Module 1: Ethics As A Necessity

Management ethics is about how we manage our morality and behavior when dealing with people and environment. It stresses on the ethical principles of human behaviors, practices and the relationships between the people as well as how we adapt to the environment.

We have to interact with different types of people in our lives. Thus, it is important to respect and accept the moral standards and knowing how those moral standards are applied to the society where we are in. However, we need to manage our own behavior first in order to gain respects from others.

People often think that something is “wrong” when it is legally wrong, and it is “right” when the laws permit it. A few examples of actions or behaviors that are legally and ethically wrong are fraud, bribery, and robbing. We may do something that is unethical (morally wrong), but it is right by laws. For instances, actions like being late for meetings and taking advantage of people. Besides that, we might also do something that is ethical (morally right), but it is legally wrong. For example, actions like driving without license during emergency and helping the injured robber.

Next, have you imagine how the society would become if everyone would to do whatever they like or prefer unethical practices in the everyday life? Well, the crimes’ rates would definitely increase day by day of course. Therefore, ethical practices bring benefits to us and the society. For instance, if we practices good ethics, we would learn to respect other people as well as gain respects from them.

I have learned the importance of good ethics and to distinguish between the right and wrong by doing this Module 1: Ethics as a Necessity. Therefore, management ethics is important.
